Overview

As a part of the University Controller's Office, USF  Payroll is committed to ensuring all employees are paid accurately, timely and in accordance with all University, State and Federal policies, procedures and regulations. Additionally, the Payroll department is responsible for the reporting and compliance for employee benefits, tax and payroll deductions as well as ensuring the payroll transactions are properly recorded in the University's accounting system.


W-2 tax forms for 2021 have been prepared and are ready for release. The Social Security Number (SSN) on your form has been truncated so that only the last four of the SSN appear on the form.

If you have not consented for electronic delivery and do not receive your paper form by February 15, 2022, please complete the reissuance request form available at: Payroll Forms

Electronic Delivery Consent for 2021 W-2s was due by January 13, 2022. 

  • If you consented, you will be able to access your form through the GEMS Employee Self Service portal via MyUSF on January 19, 2022. 
  • If you did not consent , a paper form will be mailed to your GEMS mailing address on January 31, 2022. The form will be mailed to the address on file as of January 13, 2022.
  • If you are a terminated employee who consented to receive your W-2 electronically prior to your separation, you may access your W-2 through the GEMS Employee Self Service via MyUSF until October 15, 2022. Unfortunately, you cannot consent to electronic delivery post-separation.
    • If you did not consent prior to your separation, you will not be able to view your forms electronically and will need to wait for the paper form.  

The IRS will begin processing electronic returns January 24, 2022 per the irs.gov website. You will have until April 18th, 2022 this year to file your return without an extension.
