Gabriela Silva-Maceda where she has investigated reading and writing assessments and interventions in monolingual Spanish students, the literacy needs of special needs students, and the role of academic language in the reading and writing abilities of higher education students. Additionally, she has collaborated in evaluating the social impact of a community program for underserved children and youth that promotes development through music.

She has been a full-time Professor since 2014 at the School of Psychology at UASLP in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where she founded of the School of Psychology's "Permanent Seminar in the Psychopedagogy of the Disciplines: Language, Mathematics and Science," and she is a co-founder of the School of Psychology’s Writing Clinic. She has taught in the B.A. in Psychopedagogy since its launch, and teaches the doctoral students at the School of Psychology Posgraduate Institute.

Gaby earned her undergraduate degree in Media Communications at Tec de Monterrey in Mexico. After taking Psychology courses at the undergraduate level in Dallas, Texas, and teaching Fourth-grade Bilingual students she became interested in learning more about reading and writing research. She obtained her Graduate Diploma and her PhD, both in Psychology, at the University of Wolverhampton, UK.
