Education Specialist Concentration

Offered fully online

The EdS in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Instructional Technology is designed to prepare students for leadership in technology related positions and develop the skills of practicing professionals. Courses include an array of topics including:

  • Instructional design
  • Distance learning
  • Web programming
  • Instructional graphics
  • Project management

This program is designed as a terminal, post-master's degree. Although some courses taken in the EdS program could count towards a subsequent doctoral degree, it is recommended that students decide to pursue either the EdS program or the PhD program.

Students in the EdS program may be eligible for various types of financial aid. In addition, Graduate Assistantships are awarded by the Florida Center for Instructional Technology and the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies. These assistantships require research, teaching, or administrative service totaling approximately 20 hours per week. Stipends for these appointments are in the $7,000 - $10,000 range for two semesters.

Tuition waivers may also be available to graduate students, providing for the forgiveness of either in-state or out-of-state fees. These waivers may be combined with an assistantship or awarded separately.
