LaSonya Moore, an assistant professor in the College of Education at USF’s St. Petersburg campus, has launched a literacy project through a mini service grant she received from the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg.
Ever since she began teaching Sunday school students, USF Alumna Suzette Kelly, PhD, knew she would eventually pursue a career in education. While an administrator at a preschool in Jamaica, Dr. Kelly learned about USF’s master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and quickly enrolled.
A cross-departmental team from USF is one of four groups chosen nationwide to participate in a new National Science Foundation (NSF) pilot program called All-ABOARD, which stands for “Alliance-Building Offshore to Achieve Resilience and Diversity.” Members of the team that prepared the application from the College of Education include Ruthmae Sears, PhD, and Dana Thompson Dorsey, PhD.

A new STEM Teacher Preparation Initiative in the University of South Florida’s (USF) College of Education was endorsed by U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14) for consideration by the House Appropriations Committee in appropriations bills for the upcoming fiscal year.

The Graduation with Distinction Award is presented to select undergraduate students in the College of Education who stand apart from their peers based on their academic excellence, professional development, community service or research and scholarship while a student at USF.
Two College of Education faculty members were selected to receive the 2020-21 Margaret Burlington Tritle Excellence in Teaching Faculty Award, an annual award presented to College of Education faculty members who demonstrate exemplary teaching.
Six faculty and staff members in the USF College of Education were awarded the Excellence in Undergraduate Education Award by the College’s Undergraduate Program Committee.
