Unexpected Viral Behavior Linked to Type 1 Diabetes in High-Risk Children

New results from The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young (TEDDY) study show an association between prolonged enterovirus infection and the development of autoimmunity to the insulin-producing pancreatic beta-cells that precedes type 1 diabetes.

Two USF Faculty Members Named New National Academy of Inventors Fellows

The National Academy of Inventors announced Tuesday that University of South Florida faculty members Dr. Samuel Wickline, a pioneer in nanotechnology targeting heart disease and other disorders, and Dr. Fred Leonberger, whose discoveries in fiber optics drove the development of the modern communications industry, are new 2019 Fellows.
