The David C. Anchin Center for the Advancement of Teaching welcomed nearly 800 educators to the University of South Florida for the 2026 Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI), one of the Center’s flagship professional learning programs.

Participants represented 37 states and three countries—the United States, France and China—highlighting the extraordinary reach of USF’s APSI. The institute is the third-largest APSI in the world and brings together a diverse community of educators committed to strengthening Advanced Placement teaching and learning.

The 2026 institute was offered across three weeks, with one week conducted online and two weeks hosted on USF’s Tampa campus. During the four-day intensive sessions, participating educators deepened their understanding of AP course content, structure and instructional practices while preparing for the upcoming school year.

Participants learned alongside experienced, College Board-approved consultants who traveled to USF from across the country. These expert facilitators shared their extensive knowledge of AP courses and assessments while guiding teachers through collaborative activities, instructional planning and discussions about the opportunities and challenges of teaching AP courses.

Beyond building content knowledge, APSI provides educators with valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, develop professional relationships and learn from colleagues serving students in communities across the United States and around the world. The geographic diversity of this year’s participants enriched that collaboration and reinforced the broad impact of the learning that takes place at USF each summer.

The Anchin Center is proud to host this vibrant professional learning community and grateful to the educators, facilitators and partners who make APSI a continued success. We look forward to welcoming another group of dedicated AP educators to USF next summer.
