TEACH Grants

How Do I Apply?

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Be sure to include USF's school code, 001537, in the section that asks which schools should receive your results.

  2. MANDATORY - Attend a TEACH Grant Information Session in the College of Education

Contact the College of Education representative at your campus for TEACH grant information session dates, and locations. The TEACH grant Information Session only needs to be completed once while you attend USF.

  3. Complete the TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve (ATS) and TEACH Grant Initial and Subsequent Counseling

Each year you receive a TEACH Grant, you must sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve (ATS) and also complete the Initial and Subsequent Counseling, both are completed electronically at https://teach-ats.ed.gov/. After you accept your TEACH grant offer in OASIS you will then be able complete the Agreement to Serve and the Initial and Subsequent Counseling within 1-3 business days.

The TEACH Grant ATS specifies the conditions under which the grant will be awarded, the teaching service requirements, and includes an acknowledgment by you that you understand that if you do not meet the teaching service requirements you must repay the grant as a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, with interest accrued from the date the grant funds were disbursed.

After all the above steps are completed your TEACH grant award will be disbursed to your student account within 10 business days for the appropriate aid year.

  4. Exit Interview:

When you cease enrollment or graduate from a TEACH grant eligible program, federal regulations require that you must complete an online exit interview through the U.S. Department of Education. The exit interview will discuss your agreement to serve and the conditions of your TEACH grant.
