USF expands Suit-A-Bull to help students dress for success

New this year, Suit-A-Bull has grown from a 48-hour clothing rental service to letting students keep up to four items for free that reflect their professional aspirations.

With a wide variety of clothing options, including blazers, dress shirts, blouses and dresses, Suit-A-Bull has helped hundreds of students dress professionally at events, such as career fairs and job interviews.

"I think it's really helpful for everyone who comes in and may not have the financial ability to get a full suit on their own, this gives them the opportunity to get that here for free,” said Hailey Giancola, a student worker at Suit-A-Bull, which is located inside the Student Services Building on the Tampa campus. “I think it has a big impact on those students."

Suit-A-Bull is one of several opportunities offered by the Center for Career & Professional Development, including workshops that range from resume development, to interviewing skills and even free professional headshots.

While Suit-A-Bull has been successful, there is a need for donations of gently worn professional clothing, shoes and accessories. There’s also an Amazon Wish List for those interested in donating new items.

“We want to make an investment in our students to help them as they are preparing to enter the workforce,” said Carmen Goldsmith, assistant vice president of the Center for Career & Professional Development

Suit-A-Bull leaders hope to reach a place where there is a sustainable flow of inventory to continue their commitment to the professional success of USF students.

More information about Suit-A-Bull's hours of operation can be found here. The St. Pete campus also has a Career Closet in the Judy Genshaft Student Life Center. The Clothes Closet on the Sarasota campus is located in C138.
