An update about USF's leadership team

Dear USF Community:

As we build the leadership team that will support the university’s next chapter, I am pleased to share three key additions to the Office of the President. Together, these leaders will strengthen execution, coordination and institutional communications as we advance USF’s priorities and momentum.

Brian Verkamp, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer (effective March 2)
Brian will oversee key administrative and operational functions, supporting the execution of presidential priorities and evaluating experiences for all USF stakeholders. He will provide oversight for several critical administrative units, including Human Resources, Information Technology, the USF Police Department and USF Facilities. He will report directly to me, contributing to institution-wide strategy and decision making.

Brian will partner with leaders across USF to strengthen operational effectiveness, modernize systems, improve processes and elevate the experience of our students, employees, alumni and partners. He will evaluate and optimize USF’s tools and processes, from Oracle to FAST, and others, to ensure seamless service delivery that meets the evolving needs of our community.

In 2024, Brian was named Florida CIO of the Year and Top Technology Leader by the Jacksonville Business Journal. These awards recognized his impact in advancing innovation, operational excellence and organizational performance. He earned a bachelor’s degree in information engineering technology and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati, where he also served as assistant vice president for enterprise shared services. He later earned a doctorate in education from the University of North Florida, reflecting a continued commitment to leadership, learning and institutional excellence.

Robyn Blank, Vice President and Chief of Staff (effective March 9)
Robyn will be a strategic partner to me and the university’s leadership team, helping to advance institutional priorities, strengthen coordination across units and ensure alignment between strategy and execution. She also will help foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and integrity across the university.

She brings extensive experience in higher education leadership, compliance and law. She most recently served as associate vice president and chief compliance and ethics officer at the University of North Florida, where she oversaw the university’s compliance and ethics program and strengthened risk management and regulatory compliance efforts. Previously, Robyn served as chief compliance and ethics officer at Florida State University, where she founded and built the university’s Office of Compliance and Ethics. She also served as associate general counsel, advising senior leaders across academic and administrative units on policy, governance and regulatory matters. Robyn earned a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Emory University. She is a member of the Florida Bar and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. She is also a certified compliance and ethics professional. Additionally, she was appointed to serve on both the Tallahassee Independent Ethics Board and Jacksonville Ethics Commission.

Lorie Briggs, Senior Director of Executive Communications
Lorie leads executive communications for the Office of the President, in partnership with University Communications and Marketing, to ensure clear, consistent and effective communication on key initiatives and issues of importance to the USF community. She has been part of the USF family for nearly 20 years, having worked in the Muma College of Business, with Innovative Education and, most recently, the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing, where she helped launch the new college’s communications and marketing efforts.

I am excited about the team we are building and the strong foundation it creates. This team will help ensure strong execution, clear communication and continued progress toward our shared goals. Please join me in welcoming these colleagues.

Moez Limayem, PhD
