CPT Alyssa Pybus
USAR Recruiting Officer & MSII Instructor
Captain Alyssa Pybus is an Army Reserve Engineer Officer in the 104th Training Division assigned to support the Suncoast Battalion as an Assistant Professor of Military Science beginning July 2026. She has served as Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Company Commander within Engineer units in garrison and abroad. Broadening assignments include service as an Engineer Officer in a Forward Engineer Support Team – Main and as an Innovation Officer and Operations Officer within the 75th Innovation Command.
For her civilian career, CPT Pybus is an Applied Research Scientist within the Machine Learning Department of Moffitt Cancer Center. Her research is in data-driven prediction of immunotherapy outcomes for advanced cancer patients.
CPT Pybus is happily married to her husband Kevin est. 2016. They share one daughter, Taylor (2025), in addition to three cats and a dog. Hobbies include reading, fitness, crochet, and dominating her friends & family fantasy football league.

CPT Pybus holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology ’23 and a B.S. in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ’16. Her military education includes Basic Officer Leader Course – A (Paul Revere Battalion, MIT ROTC), Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course (EBOLC), Engineer Captain’s Career Course (ECCC), Common Faculty Development – Instructor Course (CFD-IC), Joint Engineer Operations Course (JEOC), USAR Company Commanders and First Sergeants Course (CCFSC), Unit Movement Officer Deployment Planning (UMODP), Base Camp Master Planner (BCMP), Field Identification of Biological Warfare Agents (FIBWA), and Intermediate Medical Acquisition Course (IMAC). She holds the following additional skill identifiers (ASIs): W5 (Construction Project Manager), W6 (Construction Quality Assurance Officer), W8 (Facilities Engineer), and 5K (Instructor).
