Permit Types

S Permits (Buy Online)

This permit is only available for non-resident students. Non- resident students are those individuals who live off campus.

  • Provides access to any lot or garage area assigned the letter "S", which matches the letter on the permit. View Map
  • Restricted to the parking location that matches the letter designation, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.
  • After 5:30 PM and on weekends, with a valid "S" permit displayed, permit designations are lifted and meters and Timed Spaces do not have to be paid.
  • All labeled and reserved spaces, including "R" lots, are restricted for their intended use at all times, 24/7.
  • "S" permits are also valid in student lots in the St. Petersburg and Sarasota campuses.
  • Available by the academic year or semester.
  • Display permit type is a repositionable (cling) only. Upon special request, to individuals who have open vehicles, a limited amount of adhesive permits are available. Click here for permit display instructions.
  • Any registered permit holder who is not in possession of their parking pass may obtain a courtesy permit from PATS; a maximum of three (3) courtesy permits per semester.

R Permits (Buy Online)

This permit is only available for resident students. Resident students are those individuals who have an active USF housing contract.

  • Provides access to any lot or space assigned the letter "R", which matches the letter on the permit. View Map
  • Restricted to the parking location that matches the letter designation, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.
  • After 5:30 PM and on weekends, with a valid "R" permit displayed, permit designations are lifted and meters and Timed Spaces do not have to be paid.
  • All labeled and reserved spaces, including "R" lots, are restricted for their intended use at all times, 24/7.
  • Students with "R" permits are encouraged to use the USF Bull Runner to have convenient access to class, the library, and on-campus recreational activities.
  • Available by the academic year or semester.

E Permits (Buy Online)

This permit is only available for employees with a USF faculty/ staff or affiliate appointment.

  • Valid in any lot or space designated "E". View Map
  • Restricted to the parking location that matches the letter designation, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.
  • After 5:30 PM and on weekends, with a valid "E" permit displayed, permit designations are lifted and meters and Timed Spaces do not have to be paid.
  • All labeled and reserved spaces, including "R" lots, are restricted for their intended use at all times, 24/7.
  • "E" permits are also valid in staff lots in the St. Petersburg and Sarasota campuses.
  • Available by the academic year or semester.

GZ Permits (Buy Online)

Only employees, faculty/staff or affiliates can purchase GZ permits. All gold zone "GZ" parking areas are considered prime parking and are sold on a first come, first served basis. Availability of spaces in GZ areas is usually limited and permits are assigned through a waitlist .

  • Current permit holders are automatically placed on the appropriate waitlist and approved for renewal as long as the permit is purchased by the first Friday in September. Permits not renewed by the deadline will be assigned to next person on the list.
  • Employees with an interest in obtaining a GZ permit for the first time should request placement on the appropriate waitlist through their parking account.

GZ1 – Collins Boulevard Garage "GZ" areas
GZ2 – Designated for Lot 2 "GZ" areas
GZ8 – Designated for Beard Garage "GZ" areas
GZ33 – Designated for Lots 30 & 33 "GZ" areas
GZ36 – Designated for Lot 36 "GZ" areas
GZ42 – Designated for Lot 42 "GZ" areas

  • Gold Zone permit holders have access to all Gold Zone areas (with the exception of Lot 9) and all "E" and "Y" designated areas.
  • Restricted to the parking location that matches the letter designation, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.
  • After 5:30 PM and on weekends, with a valid "GZ" permit displayed, permit designations are lifted and meters and Timed Spaces do not have to be paid.
  • All labeled and reserved spaces, including "R" lots, are restricted for their intended use at all times, 24/7.
  • "GZ" permits are also valid in staff lots in the St. Petersburg and Sarasota campuses.
  • Available by the academic year only.

Reserved Parking (Buy Online)

This permit is only available for employees with a USF faculty, staff or administration appointment. Reserved spaces are reserved 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round, for the exclusive use of the permit holder.

How to apply

  1. Complete the Reserved Parking Request form.
  2. Email approved form to psweb@usf.edu.
  3. A representative will contact you to arrange the selection of the preferred space location. View Map.

About the reserved space

  • Reserved permit owners may only occupy the space assigned to them.
  • Your reserved parking permit must be displayed when parking in your assigned space.
  • Available by the academic year only.

  • Reserved parking permits are also valid in staff lots in the St. Petersburg and Sarasota campuses.

Y Permits (Buy Online)

This permit is available to students, employees, and some affiliates as a cost saving option that allows parkers to utilize Park-N-Ride lots 18 and 43 and use the USF Bull Runner to get to their destination.

  • Provides access to lots assigned the letter "Y", which matches the letter on the permit.. View Map
    • Lot 43 is located between USF Laurel Drive and Fletcher Ave.
    • Lot 18 is located between the Athletics area and 50th Street.
  • Restricted to the parking location that matches the letter designation, 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
  • After 9:00 PM and on weekends, with a valid "Y" permit displayed, permit designations are lifted and meters and Timed Spaces do not have to be paid..
  • All labeled and reserved spaces, including "R" lots, are restricted for their intended use at all times, 24/7.
  • "Y" permits are valid in lot 11 on the St. Pete campus, but are not valid on the Sarasota campus.
  • Available by the academic year only.

Alumni (Not Available Online)

This permit is available for individuals who graduated from USF and have an active membership with the Alumni Association. This permit is not available for anyone who has an active appointment as a USF employee, is an affiliate employee, or is registered for classes.

  • Only valid in "Y" designated lots between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM. View Map
    • Lot 43 is located between USF Laurel Drive and Fletcher Ave.
    • Lot 18 is located between the Athletics area and 50th Street.
  • Restricted to the parking location that matches the letter designation, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.

Retiree Permits (Not Available Online)

This permit is only available for individuals who retired from USF and do not have an active appointment.

  • After 5:30 PM and on weekends, with a valid "E" permit displayed, permit designations are lifted and meters and meters and Timed Spaces do not have to be paid.

Motorcycle (Buy Online)

Motorcycle owners may purchase a permit for their motorcycle and their regular vehicle.

  • Permits are valid in "Motorcycle" designated areas. View Map
    • Permits must be adhered to one of the following:
      • Left or right side of the wheel fork.
      • Motorcycle cowling.
      • End of the rear fender.
  • All labeled and reserved spaces, including "R" lots, are restricted for their intended use at all times, 24/7.
  • Available as a yearly permit only.

  • Holders of motorcycle permits are entitled to a maximum of five (5) days, annually, of temporary parking permits for four-wheeled vehicles. Parking location is determined by the individual's affiliation with the university.

Bicycle (Not Available Online)

Available to students, faculty, and staff free of cost. Convenient bicycle parking is located throughout campus. Registration of bicycles provides the University Police with important information in the event that your bicycle is stolen.

Visitor/Daily (Not Available Online)

Daily scratch-off permits can be purchased from the main Parking Services Building (PSB) located on USF Plum and USF West Holly Drive or the Campus Information Center (CIC), located on USF Leroy Collins Boulevard. These permits:

  • Offer the convenience of advance purchase and flexibility of use as you choose the date by scratching off the month, day, and year.
  • Display permit type is a hangtag. Click here for permit display instructions.
  • Provide access to all lots or spaces with the letter designation "D", which matches the letter on the permit. View Map
  • Many "D" designations are located in "mixed use" lots; please be sure that you are not parking in a labeled or reserved space. All labeled and reserved spaces are restricted for their intended use at all times, 24/7.

Parking Pay Stations (Not Available Online)

Our multi-space pay stations accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover and are conveniently located throughout campus. View Map

The following payment options are available when paying at a pay station:

  1. Pay by License Plate - This parking option is intended to provide access to short-term parking in timed spaces as well as parking for the day, in Daily/Visitor lots.
    • Enter your license plate number at a pay station and follow the prompts to complete your payment. Your license plate is your permit. There is no need to display your receipt on the dash of your car.
    • Receipt can be used as a bus pass to access the USF transit system, Bull Runner.
    • Daily/Visitor access is available for the entire day in all Daily/Visitor lots. Not valid in timed spaces.
    • Many Daily/Visitor lots are "mixed use"; please do not park in labeled and reserved spaces within a Daily/Visitor lot.
    • Timed space access is available for a minimum of 30 minutes to a maximum of 8 hours. You may only park in the timed spaces within the lot where access was purchased. Not valid in Daily/Visitor lots.

  2. Pay and Display - This parking option is intended to provide parking for the day, in Daily/Visitor lots.
    • Permits are purchased from a pay station and must be displayed on the dash of your car. Click here for permit display instructions.
    • Receipt can be used as a bus pass to access the USF transit system, Bull Runner, by separating the receipt from the bottom of the permit.
    • Valid for the entire day in all Daily/Visitor lots. Not valid in timed spaces.
    • Many Daily/Visitor lots are "mixed use"; please do not park in labeled and reserved spaces within a Daily/Visitor lot.

Meter (Not Available Online)

Limited meter spaces area available throughout the campus for up to two hours. View Map

Friends of USF (Not Available Online)

This permit is available to visitors only. Students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and vendors do not qualify for this visitor permit. This permit is convenient for visitors who come to the Tampa campus on a regular basis.

  • Valid in any lot designated "D" in the Tampa Campus only. View Map
  • This is a cost saving option for visitors parking more than 55 times in a year.
  • Restricted to the parking location that matches the letter designation, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.
  • After 5:30 PM and on weekends, with a valid "D" permit displayed, permit designations are lifted and meters and Timed Spaces do not have to be paid.
  • All labeled and reserved spaces, including "R" lots, are restricted for their intended use at all times, 24/7.
  • Available by the academic year or semester.

Carpool (Not Available Online)

Carpool permits are offered as part of USF's "Green Initiative." These permits only available for students and faculty/staff who sign up to participate in this program. Please read the Car Pool Policy for complete information about the program's benefits, registration, and restrictions.
