Bio
I earned a Ph.D. in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNYAB), and since 1982 have previously taught graduate, practicum, and grammar courses at USF. Presently, I teach undergraduate ENC 2210 Technical Writing and ENC 2251 Professional Writing. My hobbies are watching nature travel shows, as well as enduring classic musicals (e.g., Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Cats, Evita, Carousel, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, Cabaret, Man of La Mancha, The King and I, West Side Story, and Oliver ) competitive tennis, and ice skating.
My research interests involve the Barbados Study Abroad Program, collaborating with a colleague who teaches Food Science at California State University/Long Beach. We have published a book (titled Rumbullion: A Historic, Cultural and Scientific Aspect of Barbados Rum, Innovative Ink Publishing/Kendall Hunt, 2025: ISBN 979-8-7657-8535-5) that evolved from this study abroad, international initiative. To accommodate various requests, through service I assist with drafting/revising/editing personal projects or coaching individuals through the job application process—for example, resume/ curriculum vita preparation, interview employment scenarios, and practical employment strategies.
I am a member of, participate in, or support the following professional organizations, outreach initiatives, and promotion of the arts: Association for Business Communication, National Council of Teachers of English, National Education Association, Florida Education Association, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, CLAST (interaction with retired colleagues), UFF, Metropolitan Ministries, the Ivory Club of Tampa Bay, North Tampa Y.M.C.A., Carrollwood Community Center, and New Tampa Performing Arts Center.
