Religion and Health B.S.

The Religion and Health major prepares students to navigate the complex cultural landscapes of healthcare settings by combining the study of religion, ethics and cultural traditions with a focus on how these dimensions intersect with health, healing and the delivery of medical care.

Religion plays a significant role in shaping individuals’ values, beliefs and practices,
particularly regarding health, illness and end-of-life care. Healthcare professionals with a strong understanding of religious diversity and spiritual needs are better equipped to provide holistic care, navigate ethical dilemmas, enhance communication and support diverse populations.

The major prepares students to enter medical schools, nursing programs, public health roles or other healthcare professions with the cultural and ethical understanding needed to excel in diverse and dynamic environments. The major emphasizes experiential learning and case studies to provide students with career skills.
