Your humanities skills are valuable. Put them to work.

The humanities teach you to communicate, think critically, understand people and ideas, solve problems and see the world from different perspectives. These are skills employers need.

The Mellon Humanities Internship Program gives you the opportunity to put those skills to work, gain professional experience and explore careers where your humanities education can make an impact.

Eligible students receive $1,000 for completing a 50 hour internship, with in person, remote and hybrid opportunities available.

Who is eligible for a Mellon internship?

This program is open to undergraduate students who are either looking for an internship or have already secured an internship and are interested in funding and career development workshops.

Eligible students must be majoring or minoring in the following departments or programs:

Students should be able to commit 50 hours to their internship. The 50-hour internship can take place in a short, intensive period (e.g. over a university break) or over a longer time span—and can be in-person, remote or hybrid.

An internship director in each department reviews each student’s qualifications, skills, and goals for suitability and—if they meet the criteria—matches them with employers.
