TAMPA – The Investment Club at the University of South Florida hosted its fifth annual
Student Investment Tournament, a competitive collegiate investment competition that
drew over 100 teams.
The tournament, held for the first time at the Muma College of Business on April 18,
brought together 18 finalist teams representing 17 universities across the U.S.
Finalist teams were selected from a record pool of over 100 applications from across
39 universities in the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom. Teams in the final round
traveled to USF from universities including the University of Florida, the University
of Michigan, the University of Pennsylvania, Vanderbilt University, and Princeton
University.
Each team analyzed a publicly traded company, built a comprehensive investment thesis,
and defended their recommendation before a panel of industry professionals, competing
for a total prize pool of $8,000.

Teams were evaluated on technical accuracy, depth of research, market insight, and
presentation delivery, criteria that mirror the expectations of real-world investment
roles.
The event featured a keynote conversation with Jeff Reynolds, senior vice president
at UBS Private Wealth Management. Reynolds is a USF alumnus and a member of the Executive
Advisory Council at the Muma College of Business.
This year’s competition was supported by Raymond James and the Muma College of Business.
In addition, the tournament was supported by faculty advisor Wendy Liu, a professor
of instruction in finance in the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance.
Beyond the tournament, the student club provides members with year-round opportunities
to develop technical skills and engage directly with industry professionals. Through
stock pitches, a speaker series, and recruitment events with leading firms, members
gain hands-on training and professional exposure.
