The Institute Represented at the 141st Annual American Public Health Association Conference

The American Public Health Association's (APHA) 141st Annual Meeting and Expo was held in Boston, Massachusetts on November 2-6, 2013. APHA is a multidisciplinary conference attracting more than 13,000 national and international researchers, practitioners, and students to share the latest in research, practice, and policy to promote health and prevent disease.

The Institute for Translational Research in Adolescent Behavioral Health (Institute) was presented to APHA participants. In addition, Institute Scholars and the Institute Project Director presented their research efforts. Heather Williamson presented a poster on behalf of Institute researchers, "A Paradigm Shift: An Innovative Interdisciplinary Team-Mentoring Public Health Research and Education Program," as part of the Academic Public Health Caucus. Institute Scholar Nichole Snyder presented an oral presentation, "Factors Associated with Non-medical Abuse of Prescription Drugs among College Students," as part of the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs section. Institute Scholar Vickie Lynn was a co-author on an oral presentation, "Understanding Implementation: Experience of Community-based Organizations Using Innovative Technologies for Prevention with Positives," as part of the HIV/AIDS section. Finally, Institute Project Director Dr. Donna Burton presented an oral presentation, "Readiness of School-based Service Providers toward Integration of Mental Health Services in Schools and Adoption of Evidence-based Practices," as part of the Schools and Mental Health Section.
