General Knowledge Test (GKT)

The Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE) General Knowledge Test (GKT) is an examination of basic skills required of an individual wishing to pursue a degree in education. Successful completion of this examination is a requirement of admission into the University of South Florida College of Education.

The FTCE GKT consists of the following four subtests:

  • Essay (1 essay/50 minutes)
  • English Language Skills (40 questions/40 minutes)
  • Reading (40 questions/55 minutes)
  • Mathematics (45 questions/100 minutes)
