Disrupt Texts Event

Session Dates: January 26, February 16, and April 27, 2022

This spring, the Anchin Center is partnering with #DisruptTexts to offer a three-part workshop series focused on creating a more inclusive, representative, and equitable language arts curriculum. #DisruptTexts is a crowdsourced, grassroots effort by teachers for teachers to challenge the traditional canon and support text-based instruction that is culturally responsive and sustaining.

This three-part series began in person in January with an introduction to #DisruptTexts with Lorena Germán. On February 16, the series will continue online with a close study of "The Great Gatsby" with Tricia Ebarvia. The series will conclude on April 27 with a session focused on George Orwell’s "1984," facilitated by Julia Torres.

This workshop series is $10 to attend and is a great fit for English language arts teachers, literacy coaches, and administrators who support literacy initiatives in their districts.
