Grow Through Reading

Launched from a USF-supported after-school pilot in St. Petersburg serving historically marginalized youth, Grow Through Reading has expanded into a national, free online literacy resource. Created by USF professors AnnMarie Gunn and Susan Bennett, this site provides research-based social-emotional literacy lessons for preschool through grade 2, pairing children’s books with guided dialogue and creative activities. Early studies showed the greatest gains among children with the lowest starting scores, with improvements in both vocabulary and social-emotional development.
