Candace Marie Henry, Ph.D.

Candace Marie Henry's, Ph.D., research interest includes understanding and addressing the financial barriers and challenges faced by first-generation, low-income students and those marginalized in higher education, exploring the impact of financial aid policies and procedures on college access and success for first-generation, low-income students, and examining how institutional policies, practices and teaching strategies can promote access and success for all student populations.

Henry is an assistant professor of higher education and college student affairs whose scholarship, teaching and practice are grounded in a commitment to access, student success and financial empowerment. As a student success practitioner turned faculty member, Henry’s work focuses on helping students make informed decisions about college funding and achieve sustainable financial wellness for their future. Her research examines how student debt, financial aid policies and institutional practices shape access, persistence and post-graduate outcomes. Henry also integrates creative modalities such as storytelling and performance to disseminate her research and reimagine how we engage financial literacy in higher education.

Henry holds a bachelor's degree in Music (concentration: vocal performance), a master's degree in Counselor Education (concentration: student services in higher education) and a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction (concentration: higher education administration).
