Martin Tadlock, Ph.D.
Martin Tadlock, Ph.D., brings over four decades of experience in teaching, research and higher-education leadership to his role in USF’s College of Education.
Tadlock is a professor of education at the University of South Florida. He joined USF St. Petersburg in July 2016 as vice chancellor of academic affairs and was named the University of South Florida's St. Petersburg campus interim regional chancellor in September 2017, becoming regional chancellor in July 2018. He served in that role until the summer of 2023, when he returned to his current faculty position.
Before coming to USF, Tadlock served as assistant professor of middle level education and director of The Center of Education for the Young Adolescent at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville, a UW System Center of Excellence. He then served as professor, chair and assistant dean in the College of Education at Utah State University.
Tadlock later moved into university administration as dean of the College of Professional and Graduate Studies at Bemidji State University in Minnesota and then as provost from 2001–2006. Between 2006 and his move to USF, he served as assistant vice chancellor at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and as provost and interim president of Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.
Tadlock began his career in education over 40 years ago as a middle school teacher.
He has published extensively on young adolescent development, middle level education
and educational leadership, securing over $7.5 million in research grants and contracts.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography and an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from
Utah State University and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Leadership from
Miami University of Ohio.
