It’s a new era at the University of South Florida – and now, a newly launched international marketing campaign will help share that story with the world.

The campaign is designed to enhance the university’s reputation and awareness on a broad basis and will feature the theme, “A Future Without Limits.”

Key areas of focus will be on the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute in downtown Tampa and the MCAT scores of College of Medicine applicants, USF’s innovative approach to teaching and student success, and the university’s fundraising success – one of only three “young universities” in the nation to raise more than $1 billion.

The campaign will include print advertising in publications like The Chronicle of Higher Education and Florida Trend Magazine. Social media advertising will include promotions on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, as well as a number of digital ads.The digital campaign will include placements on the web sites of the New York Times, Washington Post, Wired Magazine, Mashable and more. All of this will be supported by a public relations campaign targeting local, national and international media outlets as well a complete redesign of the university website.

“We are changing the way we tell the USF story,” said Joe Hice, chief marketing officer of the USF System. “The university’s trajectory is truly astonishing and we have so many great stories to tell. Stories of research and discovery. Stories of student success. Stories of leadership and how a university can impact the future of an entire area and the state.”

The campaign was developed by the University Communications & Marketing (UCM) team in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee in collaboration with SPARK, a Tampa-based marketing agency. The creative elements utilize authentic stories from across the USF System as a way to not just market the university but make genuine connections with a worldwide audience

Along with highlighting current USF-led research and projects, the photo and video components also feature USF faculty and students – making them the stars of the campaign.

In one ad, College of Pharmacy Dean Kevin Sneed, PhD, is seen utilizing the college’s cutting-edge augmented and virtual reality tools to teach pharmacology. Sophomore Keerthana Nimmagadda, a student in USF’s 7-year medical program, went in front of the camera to explore digital renderings of the new USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute in downtown Tampa. Lori Collins, PhD, co-director of the Digital Heritage & Humanities Collection in USF Libraries, is featured for her work preserving history through technology. And Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Professor Babu Joseph, PhD, and Associate Professor John Kuhn, PhD, are also highlighted for their innovative work developing liquid fuel from the gas emitted by trash.

“Whether we’re talking about our Preeminent designation, our role in the transformation of downtown Tampa and the Tampa Bay area, or the cutting-edge research and innovation happening on all three of our campuses, USF is continuing to set the standard in so many areas and we want to share that with that world,” Hice said.
