University of South Florida President Moez Limayem announced the location of the new Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing building and unveiled renderings of the future facility during his first fall address as USF’s ninth president.
Limayem highlighted record-breaking achievements and provided updates on several of the university’s most significant initiatives – from the continued growth of its research enterprise to the transformation of the Tampa campus and the development of a new strategic plan.
USF research awards reached a record $750 million, while the incoming class posted the highest average GPA and SAT scores in university history. The university also welcomed its largest-ever incoming class of National Merit Scholars.
New home for Bellini College
Limayem announced that the new Bellini College building will be constructed near the main entrance to the Tampa campus at the corner of Lee Roy Collins Boulevard and USF Alumni Drive.
Launched in fall 2025 with a $40 million gift from Arnie and Lauren Bellini, the college
brings together expertise in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and computing
to address some of the most consequential challenges facing society.
The building has received $35 million in state funding as well as millions of additional
dollars in philanthropic support. While a construction date has not yet been established,
Limayem said he envisions the facility as a hub for learning, research and collaboration.

Work begins on Uptown Landing USF
The announcement comes as USF advances another major campus transformation: the mixed-use Fletcher District, now formally named Uptown Landing USF.
The first phase of the approximately 30-acre development is expected to be completed by fall 2028. It will feature student housing, retail, dining, hospitality and academic and research facilities, creating a walkable, experience-oriented district within walking distance of USF’s new on-campus stadium.
Stadium construction remains on schedule
Construction of the on-campus stadium also remains on schedule, with USF football expected to play its first home games in the new facility next season.
The 35,000-seat stadium will include a south tower rising nearly 160 feet – making it taller than almost every other building on the Tampa campus.
Recovery continues at College of Marine Science
Limayem also provided an update on recovery efforts following the fire that impacted
the College of Marine Science.
The majority of refrigerated and frozen samples were salvaged, along with irreplaceable
dried samples collected from around the globe. USF’s ocean-based field programs are
also fully operational.
The university is expected to provide an update soon on plans to rebuild, with construction anticipated to begin next year.
Building a strategic plan around impact
Looking ahead, Limayem outlined the university community’s role in developing a new strategic plan designed to position USF as a model university.
The plan will focus on six interconnected areas: talent, educational impact, research impact, perception, partnership and experience.
Together, the priorities are intended to strengthen USF’s ability to attract talented people and partners, deliver educational and research impact, and prepare students for careers while solving complex problems.
