A resource for today and tomorrow

At the University of South Florida, we believe no Bull should face a crisis alone.

Support-a-Bull is a community-driven initiative that provides assistance to students experiencing unexpected hardships and emergencies. Created at the start of the 2026 fall semester in response to the immediate needs of students affected by an apartment fire, the program is designed to be ongoing in order to quickly help students recover from unforeseen circumstances and continue their educational journey with the support of the USF community.

Whether responding to a natural disaster, fire, housing emergency, or other significant life event, Support-a-Bull connects students with essential resources and funds through the generosity of fellow Bulls.

Current Need

In August, a number of USF students were displaced after a fire destroyed their off-campus apartment building. These students lost many of the everyday items they rely on for daily living and academic success. The USF community is coming together to help by providing essential items and financial support to help them recover and rebuild.

How You Can Help

Support-a-Bull offers you the opportunity to help by purchasing items needed or through a financial donation.

Financial Contribution
Financial donations provide flexibility to address students' most urgent and changing needs. Support-a-Bull contributions help provide critical support during times of crisis by having funds ready to respond quickly when emergencies occur.

Amazon Wish List
Apparel and other items have been added to an Amazon Wish List for fast and convenient item donations. Please visit the site to purchase your donations and we will make sure that the students receive the items they requested. Wish List items have been sorted by priority needs.

What types of items can I donate?
Student Success has coordinated with the impacted students and obtained lists of their needs which have been added to an Amazon Wish List (link above).  Please shop the Wish List and select any of the items for your donation.

Can I make a monetary donation instead?
Yes. Financial contributions help address other needs and allow the Support-a-Bull program to provide assistance where it is needed most.

How will donations be used?
Donations are directed to students experiencing verified emergency situations and urgent needs.

Is Support-a-Bull only for this emergency?
No. Support-a-Bull is designed to be an ongoing resource that can assist students facing future emergencies and hardships.

If you are a currently enrolled USF student who is experiencing hardship impacting your well-being and academic success at USF, please initiate your request for assistance by completing the General Student Concerns form.

Unexpected emergencies can disrupt a student's education, financial stability, and well-being. A single act of generosity can help a student remain enrolled, meet basic needs, and stay focused on achieving their educational goals.

While the program was launched to assist students impacted by a recent fire, Support-a-Bull is intended to serve as an ongoing resource that can be activated whenever members of our student community experience significant hardships or emergencies.
