Student Information Systems (SIS)
The SIS (Student Information Systems) team works with all USF System users of our student information systems (Banner, DegreeWorks) to facilitate clear understanding and definition of a business need, situation or problem. The SIS team also assists departments in the assessment of their current business processes to identify and recommend improvements resulting in, but not limited to, better customer service and streamlined work processes.
Through this dialogue, the SIS team identifies and thoroughly documents the requirements for a solution to be implemented by the SIS Agile team. Additionally, larger projects are routed to the Student Solutions Governance Workgroup prior to being added to the SIS agile backlog.
Banner by Ellucian is the student information system for all student records at the University of South Florida. As the system of record, all student transactions are recorded in this system and include but are not limited to:
- Student Admissions
- Class Registration
- Student Accounts Receivable
- Financial Aid Processing
- Transcript Maintenance
- Mid Term/ Final Grades
- Academic History
DegreeWorks is a web-based degree audit and tracking system helping students and academic advisors monitor progress toward degree completion. It provides academic information related to degree progress, displaying courses required and completed in a student's degree program. Note: Graduate, professional, and non-degree seeking students do not use DegreeWorks at this time.
