Our staff will help you prepare for and transition to life beyond USF with career planning, internships, employment and graduate school preparation.

VIRTUAL JOB SEARCH

For those of you entering the workforce after graduation, we are here to assist you! What does a job search look like in a time of social distancing? It might surprise you to know that it will not be very different from a regular job search. The biggest change will be in the interviewing process, where in-person interviews will most likely be replaced with phone and video interviews. Because some companies may have only a few openings, you must prepare to be competitive in your job search.

We have created a Virtual Job Search Toolkit to guide you through your job search. While we may not be able to meet with you in person, your Career Consultant is available by phone or video conference to support you with the job search process. You can schedule an appointment with your Career Consultant in Handshake or by calling 813-974-2171.

For more information on the Virtual Job Search, visit https://www.usf.edu/career-services.

Internships

Tampa: Students working in off-campus internships are encouraged to discuss USF's continuity plans with their site supervisor and should follow the guidelines of their internship employer regarding internship attendance. If their internship is being taken for USF course credit and their attendance is interrupted (e.g., self-isolation, employer actions) students should communicate about this with their site supervisor and their internship course instructor to discuss alternative activities for internship credit. USF is providing guidelines for faculty and staff to support student academic progress in the event of disrupted activity.

If students have concerns regarding navigating these decisions, they are encouraged to reach out to the Office of Internships and Career Readiness for assistance at 813-974-2171 or csinternships@usf.edu, and/or to look for updates on our website at www.usf.edu/career-services

OFF-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT

Tampa: Students can search for off-campus employment opportunities in Handshake, which can be accessed through My USF. Students working in part-time jobs not affiliated with USF are encouraged to follow the guidelines and practices put in place by their employer and the health and safety guidelines provided through the Center for Disease Control regarding self-protection practices. Stay informed about COVID-19 updates through USF's website www.usf.edu/coronavirus.
