Fulbright Teaching Assistantship Awarded to English Alumna

USF Department of English alumna Allyson Hoffman received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship and was accepted to the PhD program at Western Michigan University.

As a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, Hoffman will teach at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Byåsen Upper Secondary school in Trondheim, Norway, starting August 2019. She will complete her time there in summer 2020.

Following her return, Hoffman will pursue a PhD in creative writing (fiction) at Western Michigan University, where she has been awarded a university doctoral scholar associateship. She plans to continue writing linked short stories and a novel, as well as study contemporary literature. 

Hoffman graduated from USF in 2018 with an MFA in creative writing (fiction), as well as a certificate in professional & technical communication. During her time at USF, she was the recipient of the Joseph Bentley Teaching Fellowship and the Irving H. Rubin and Mollie M. Rubin Award for Outstanding Graduate Student. Hoffman also won the 2018 Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Intro Journals Project in fiction.
