BIO
Md Kishan Miah. I am a doctoral student in the Politics and International Affairs Ph.D. program in the School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies (SIGS) at the University of South Florida. I earned my Bachelor of Social Sciences in International Relations and Master of Social Sciences in Security Studies from the University of Dhaka. In addition, I have completed my second Master’s in International Affairs at Missouri State University. My research focuses on global security and political economy, with particular attention to how competition over critical resources shapes international security dynamics.
I have served as a Research Assistant at the East Asia Study Center in Bangladesh and has presented multiple research papers at academic conferences. I am the author of “China’s Influence on Global Development Finance: Disrupting Traditional Institutions,” published in the Journal of Governance, Security, and Development. I am currently working on the Research project “Resource Rivalry: The Strategic Implications of China-U.S. Competition for Critical Minerals,” which explores the intersection of resource competition and international security. My long-term goal is to contribute to scholarly and policy debates on global security and political economy, with a special focus on resource-driven conflicts.
