Skills Employers Seek

A variety of recent studies reveal that American employers seek the very same skills that our Sociology and ISS degrees foster. These include: creativity, innovation, social skills, excellent oral and written communication, listening, collaboration, critical and analytical thinking, problem solving, strong math and science skills, and multi-cultural and global understandings. One study that reveals this is The National Bureau of Economic Research's 2017 study The Growing Importance of Social Skills in the Labor Market (NBER Working Paper No. 21473).
