Interdisciplinary Initiatives

The Irish Studies Initiative unites scholars, educators, community stakeholders, and the USF and wider student community in interdisciplinary collaboration dedicated to the study of Irish history, language, literature, politics, religion, and other cultural expressions in Ireland and throughout the Irish diaspora.

The Initiative is dedicated to nurturing lasting community partnerships, providing meaningful experiential-centered opportunities for students, fostering research and building collections, and developing Irish Studies-themed curricular opportunities.

The South Asian Studies Initiative (SASI) at the University of South Florida advances innovative and globally engaged research and scholarship about South Asia as a distinct and interconnected region bringing life and vital insights to cultures, environments, health, religions, political economies, and creative expression around the world.

Our faculty, students, and community-collaborators together cultivate interdisciplinary research, support emerging scholars, and foster public dialogue, to deepen the understanding of South Asia’s significance in shaping the contemporary world.

The Information, Communication, and Society Initiative (ICS) brings together faculty and students whose research examines how information and communication shape institutions, technologies, publics, and social life.

ICS supports faculty and student collaboration through research workshops, invited speakers and public conversations, reading and working groups, graduate student programming, and opportunities to develop collaborative research and funding proposals.
