Mission statement

The South Asian Studies Initiative (SASI) at the University of South Florida advances innovative and globally engaged research and scholarship about South Asia as a distinct and interconnected region bringing life and vital insights to cultures, environments, health, religions, political economies, and creative expression around the world. Our faculty, students, and community-collaborators together cultivate interdisciplinary research, support emerging scholars, and foster public dialogue, to deepen the understanding of South Asia’s significance in shaping the contemporary world.
