Research Interests: Reentry and Reintegration criminal record stigma, perceptions of redeemability, and collateral consequences
Kiera O’Connor is a Ph.D. student in Criminology at the University of South Florida. She earned her B.A. and M.A. in Criminology from USF, where her master’s research resulted in a first-author publication in the Journal of Criminal Justice. Her research focuses on reentry and reintegration, with particular interests in criminal record stigma, perceptions of redeemability, and collateral consequences. Her work examines how the nature and consequences of criminal justice involvement shape access to employment, essential resources, and other opportunities, and how policies and institutional practices can reduce barriers to successful reintegration.
