Candi Ashley, Ph.D.

Candi Ashley, Ph.D.,Professor and Exercise Science Undergraduate Program Coordinator, researches heat stress in occupational and athletic environments and has earned national recognition through federally and corporately funded studies.

Ashley is a Professor and the Exercise Science Undergraduate Program Coordinator at the University of South Florida. In addition, she holds a courtesy appointment in the USF College of Public Health.  

Ashley received her Ph.D. in Exercise Science from the University of Alabama and was an Assistant Professor in Exercise Science at Arkansas State University before coming to USF in 1996. Her teaching responsibilities include teaching in the undergraduate Exercise Science Program as well as non-majors courses.

Ashley’s primary research interest focuses on heat stress in occupational and athletic settings. She has received corporate funding, foundation funding and federal grant funding for her research. She has presented her work at national conferences such as the annual meetings of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and has authored several book chapters and a number of papers in national peer reviewed journals.
