Lauren B. Braunstein, Ph.D.

Lauren B. Braunstein, Ph.D., is a professor of instruction in social foundations whose work centers on sociocultural foundations of education, TESOL and bilingual education, with a focus on global learning and social justice.

Braunstein is a Professor of Instruction in Social Foundations at the University of South Florida, where she also serves as Program Coordinator for Social Foundations and directs the Global Studies in Education minor and a graduate certificate. She earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Cultural Studies from Miami University and holds an M.A. in TESOL from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

Her expertise spans sociocultural foundations of education, TESOL, bilingual education and qualitative research methods. Braunstein is an award-winning educator recognized for undergraduate teaching and innovation in online teaching. She has led multiple study abroad programs, including the Social Justice, Peace and Pedagogy Study Abroad program partnering with Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia.
