Yiting Chu, Ph.D.
Chu received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Multicultural Education from the University of Washington, Seattle. He joined USF in 2023 as part of the Ed.D. in Educational Program Development program, where he teaches doctoral courses in practice-based methods, scholarly practitioner inquiry, and interview research.
Chu’s scholarship focuses on three interrelated areas: 1) transformative partnerships in teacher education and development; 2) teachers’ identities, lives, and experiences; and 3) student-centered, community-oriented teaching. Together, these domains support an overarching goal: translating rigorous research into systemic policy and practice changes that empower all students to thrive in schools and society. His work has been published in journals such as Educational Researcher, Review of Educational Research, Journal of Teacher Education, Educational Policy Analysis Archives, Curriculum Inquiry, and Race Ethnicity and Education.
He is an active member of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the National Association for Multicultural Education. He served as Chair of AERA’s Multicultural/Multiethnic Education SIG and serves on the editorial board of Urban Education.
When he’s not working, he can be found reading, hiking, checking out new coffee shops, or curled up with his cats trying to bribe them with their favorite treats.
