Zafer Unal, Ph.D.
A passionate advocate for engaging, tech-forward learning, Zafer Unal, Ph.D., leads transformative undergraduate initiatives at USF while advancing research that improves accessibility and student success.
Unal is a Professor of Education and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the University of South Florida's College of Education. He earned his doctorate in Elementary Education from Florida State University. In his leadership role as Associate Dean, Unal oversees undergraduate academic programs and leads strategic initiatives focused on student success, curriculum transformation and career readiness outcomes. He is passionate about using technology to make learning more engaging and effective, with research that focuses on developing web and mobile applications to enhance student learning and make education more accessible. This includes exploring AI use in education, creating educational tools for classroom management, and improving online portfolios and methods for assessing teacher candidate learning. Through his administrative and scholarly work, Unal bridges educational technology innovation with institutional leadership to advance undergraduate education and student achievement.
