Undergraduate Course Prerequisite Requirements for the Masters Degree

Students entering the Masters Degree program must have completed the following courses in their undergraduate program:

Mathematics Mechanical Engineering
  • Calculus I, II, III
  • Differential Equations
  • Thermodynamics
  • Heat Transfer
  • Fluid Mechanics
  • Machine Design
  • Solid Mechanics

Students entering from disciplines outside of Mechanical Engineering will be required to make up any deficiencies before starting their graduate coursework.

*All international applicants for whom English is not the native tongue must provide proof of competence in the English language. International applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 taken within 2 years of the desired term of entry or a minimum TOEFL score as listed above. Applicants who are unable to meet this requirement should contact INTO University of South Florida for information on their Academic English program for international students. INTO University of South Florida also offers Graduate Pathways programs for international applicants.

NOTE: Positive results on the SAT (Critical Reading and Writing) or ACT (English/Writing and Reading) may be used to waive the TOEFL/IELTS requirement.
