Undergrad Research Initiatives
The Patel College of Global Sustainability (PCGS) invites motivated USF undergraduates, preferably from the Honors College, to participate in applied research addressing today’s most pressing sustainability challenges. Our Undergraduate Research Initiatives connect students with faculty mentors to explore sustainable solutions and innovative approaches across the Food–Water–Energy Nexus, Earth systems resilience, and sustainability governance and policy.
Research opportunities include projects involving:
- Food Security and Agricultural Innovation
- Sustainable Water Resource Management
- Renewable and Alternative Energy Transitions
- Earth Systems Adaptation and Risk Mitigation
- Emerging technologies such as AI, Robotics, Sensing Technologies, and Data-Driven sustainability tools.
Students may also examine sustainability policy frameworks including regulation, economic incentives, stakeholder engagement, community-driven innovation, and long-term planning for resilient infrastructure and resource management.
Participants gain experience in interdisciplinary research, policy analysis, and professional communication, with opportunities to present their findings at the USF Undergraduate Research Symposium and contribute to real-world sustainability solutions across Florida’s High-Tech Corridor.
Application remain open until December 5th 2025.
