BUILD Program
Bridging the Unmet Industry learning demands for reseArch administrators (BUILD)
Welcome to BUILD! Funded by the National Science Foundation, the BUILD (Bridging the Unmet Industry Learning Demands for Research Administrators) training program is designed to prepare the next generation of research administration and research development (RARD) professionals. BUILD creates a ready workforce. Curriculum and mentoring support undergraduate students preparing for exciting careers supporting the nation’s research enterprise.
BUILD prepares learners for early career roles in research administration and paves
the way for those seeking graduate study in the field. Curriculum is grounded in real-world
practices and aligned with professional expectations commonly found in universities
and research organizations.
The fully asynchronous design makes BUILD accessible to traditional undergraduates,
part-time learners and working adults. BUILD is organized as four courses that mirror
how research administration functions in practice and offers flexible sequencing options.
A robust mentoring component aims to strengthen the BUILD program, connecting the
future of the field with experienced leaders in research administration. The BUILD
Mentorship Program will match mentors (experienced administrators) and mentees (undergraduate
students) to progress through self-directed goals and enhance career opportunities.
Mentors will facilitate professional development skills, offer career guidance and
encourage mentees as they work toward their goals.
Please visit the BUILD website to learn more and begin your pathway to a career in research administration.
