Family engagement opportunities
Families play a vital role in the USF community. Throughout the year, there are many opportunities for families to visit campus, connect with their student, and experience life as part of the Bull community! From signature events to campus traditions and local activities, there are numerous ways to stay engaged.
Below are some ways families can get involved and experience USF alongside their student!
Prior To Your Student's First Day
Once your student has been admitted, there are a few key steps to complete before their first day of classes to ensure a smooth start.
Students must register for and attend Orientation at their admitted campus, as it is required for enrollment. Orientation helps both students and families become familiar with the University of South Florida, its resources, and the transition to campus life.
Families are also encouraged to review the Family Checklist, which outlines important steps from admission through the start of classes, helping you stay informed and support your student along the way.
Family Weekend
Family Weekend is an annual fall tradition that invites families to experience USF alongside their student through a variety of engaging programs and activities. Click here for more information on registration and stay up to date with new information through the Parent & Family Bulletin!
Engage With Our Office
The best way to stay connected with Parent & Family Engagement is through the Parent & Family Bulletin. Our biweekly newsletter shares updates, calendars, and community resources to help families stay in the loop on all that’s happening at USF.
You’re also invited to join #HowToCollege: Family Edition, our virtual webinar series where campus departments share the resources and support available to your student throughout their time at USF.
If you or your student ever encounter challenges navigating processes, policies, or resources, you can submit a Family Support Request to connect directly with our team. We’ll follow up with guidance and next steps to ensure your student gets the support they need.
Stay Engaged at USF and in the Tampa Bay Area
USF offers many ways for families to stay connected and spend time with their student, both on campus and in the surrounding area!
In the fall, families can enjoy Homecoming Week, including the Running of the Bulls Parade and the Homecoming football game. In the spring, Bulls Family Fest brings families to the Tampa campus for a day of games, food, and connection with campus and community partners.
Throughout the year, families can attend performances by the School of Theatre & Dance or celebrate milestones, such as Commencement.

Athletics
USF athletic events are a great way to experience Bull spirit and spend quality time with your student! With a variety of sports competing throughout the year, there are plenty of opportunities to attend games and support USF together. Be sure to check team schedules and take advantage of your student’s free admission and other digital ticket options.
