After Hours Care
For severe or potentially life-threatening medical emergencies, call 911 or go to a local emergency room.
During Fall and Spring semesters, Student Health Services offers evening appointments Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 6pm-8pm when pre-scheduled. Appointments can be scheduled by telephone at 813.974.2331 or stopping in person at SHS 100 clinic to schedule.
When the Student Health clinic is closed, call the Nurse Advice Line at 813-974-2331. A nurse can answer your health-related questions and help you to decide if you should seek immediate medical care at an Urgent Care or Emergency Room facility, or wait to be seen at the Student Health clinic when it opens. The nurses can assist you with basic self-health care tips. The after-hours advice nurse is not located at Student Health so they cannot access your medical record at the time of the call.
The Nurse Advice Line is available only to registered students at the University of South Florida, Tampa campus, or those who have paid the current Health Fee.
There is no charge for talking to the after-hours nurse. If you choose to seek medical care outside of SHS, remember that you are responsible for the cost of that care. The pre-paid health fee does not cover emergency or urgent care services not treated at the clinic. If you have medical insurance coverage, check with your insurance company before seeking care to understand what it will cost.
