Fees & Insurance
Student Health Fee
The health fee is included in the USF tuition – so if you are a registered student who has paid tuition, you've paid the fee. This fee helps to offset your medical costs, which means you can see a healthcare provider with no out-of-pocket charge for the general office visit. We send out labs to an independent facility, so any co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible amounts for outside labs cannot be waived. It also provides you with free services from the Counseling Center, Center for Student Well-being, and the Center for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention.
The Health Fee is not insurance. Insurance is not required to utilize Student Health Services, however, medical insurance is recommended to assist with paying medical treatment off-campus, emergencies, travel, and for services not provided by our clinic.
Registered students have no out-of-pocket charge for visits with General Medical providers (physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant) because they are covered by the paid Health Fee (included in the cost of tuition). Minimal fees for procedures, specialty services, medications, lab tests, medical supplies, immunization shots, and allergy injections are additional. Some fees may be covered by your medical insurance; check your policy. We understand that students may have limited financial resources and make every effort to keep additional charges affordable. The Fee Schedule does not list low-volume services; these are charged on a case-by-case basis.
