Overview

The Department of Integrative Biology (IB) is a leading academic unit at the University of South Florida's College of Arts & Sciences.  We are home to over 1500 undergraduate students, 40 graduate students and 34 faculty, including 27 active research faculty.

Our department is supported by a dedicated team that helps drive the goals of a dynamic wide-ranging academic unit. Our faculty continually refine and innovate course curriculum by introducing new electives, integrating research-based teaching practices, and shaping courses that reflect the evolving landscape of biological science. The department plays a central role in advancing USF’s research mission, expanding student opportunities beyond graduation, and contributing to meaningful scientific progress.

USF is situated in the vibrant and diverse Tampa Bay region, with campuses in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Together these campuses serve more than 50,000 students and offer undergraduate, graduate, specialist and doctoral degrees.

Integrative Biology Faculty are located in the SCA, BSF and ISA buildings just off of USF Alumni and USF Beard Drive’s.

A bustling downtown is a walk away, with an array of world-class museums, a performing arts center, restaurants, live music venues and parks. Some of the finest beaches in the country are just a short 15-minute drive.

An intimate campus nestled on the waterfront, steps from world-class cultural institutions. Faculty committed to student success and innovative research on all levels and across disciplines. Students who directly engage in research, internships and civic projects that contribute to campus life and the greater community. Biology faculty are located in the DAV building, just off of 1st street SE.
