Paleontology meets AI to track malaria-spreading mosquitoes

08/27/26 — National Geographic films at the University of South Florida for a documentary exploring how paleontology and artificial intelligence are helping scientists study some of the world’s smallest creatures, with Associate Professor Ryan Carney and his team applying dinosaur-identification techniques to mosquitoes in Africa and developing a 3D-printed AI smart trap to identify and map mosquito species.
