The Manougian STEM Education Center, under the direction of Razvan Teodorescu, received a $5,000 AMS Young Scholars Program award. The Manougian STEM Education Center resumed organizing its summer school in June 2024.

Jean-François Biasse named co-PI on Quantum City grant

In July 2024, Jean-François Biasse received (as a Co-PI) a CAD 280,000 2-year grant from Quantum City, an institute formed in partnership between the University of Calgary, the Government of Alberta, and the Mphasis company.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics' Nagle Lecture Series (NLS), held in honor of the late R. Kent Nagle, featured Dr. Cristopher Moore of the Santa Fe Institute, a professor specializing in the intersection of mathematics, physics, and computer science.

In May 2024, Jean-François Biasse (PI, pictured left), Rouzbeh Behnia (Muma, Co-PI), Kwang-Cheng Chen (Engineering, Co-PI), Lukas Kölsch (Co-PI, center), Giacomo Micheli (Co-PI, right), Mehran Mozzafari-Kermani (Bellini, Co-PI), and Attila Yavuz (Bellini, Co-PI) received a $316k Interdisciplinary Research Award (IDRA) to support the development of the infrastructure of the USF Centre for Cryptographic Research.

Dr. Giacomo Micheli will be one of the five plenary speakers at WCC2024, the thirteenth edition of the biannual Coding and Cryptography workshop (WCC 2024) held at the University of Perugia in Perugia, Italy, June 17-21, 2024. The workshop brings together researchers in all aspects of coding theory, cryptography, and related areas, theoretical or applied.
