An alumna of our bachelor's program in Sociology, Ms. Tia Dixon (BA, 2015), who was selected as Outstanding Undergraduate Alumna of the Year in 2016, made a very generous donation to the Department of Sociology in 2019 to establish the "Dixon-Posimoto Scholarship" which will be awarded annually to an undergraduate student who would like to complete an internship with a non-profit community agency in the Tampa Bay region but who finds it difficult financially to pursue the internship. Ms. Dixon is the Executive Director and founder of the agency "Posimoto - Changing Faces," a non-profit mentoring program that provides youth with positive moral support and a positive outlook on life through a variety of after-school and Saturday programs. Ms. Dixon is also the Regional Benefits Director of Alliance Health Group, an Insurance Brokerage in Tampa, FL.

An alumnus of our bachelor's degree program in Sociology, Dr. Cris Chandler (BA, 2008), was recently named a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

She currently works as a specialist in Global Health at the Association of Public Health Laboratories in Washington, D.C.

In April, 2017, an alumnus of our bachelor's degree program in ISS, Joe Zuniga, who is a nationally recognized singer and author, returned to campus for a book signing of his book Debra Lafave- A Crown of Beauty for Ashes, which is a story about second chances. His newest song titled “Familias Unidas” (United Families) can be watched on Youtube.
