Civic Engagement & Service

Stampede of Service

Stampede of Service (SOS) is now a full year of service opportunities focused each month on specific UN Sustainable Development Goals.  Traditionally a single morning of service, SOS will now include opportunities facilitated by Civic Engagement Board student leaders at sites across the Tampa Bay area.  September and January continue to serve as the largest weekends of service for the year, with 40-60 projects from all UN Sustainable Development Goals.  However, other months of the year take a more focused approach with 8-10 projects focused on just one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

SOS engages students in meaningful service experiences that move them along the Active Citizen Continuum. In the process, students will connect with each other around common causes while also learning how their passions connect to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Lastly, students will become aware of how their community service can also help them gain career competencies that employers are looking for.  This is truly an experience that shapes each student while also making a positive impact in the community.

September 7-11, 2019

This annual "week of service" allows USF students the opportunity to serve the Tampa Bay area and get to know fellow bulls each September in connection with the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.  This tradition of service connects you with not only the Tampa Bay community, but also allows you to begin a relationship with a local nonprofit or government agency that hopefully lasts far beyond this event.
