For Global Travelers

Passport and Visa Information

Passport Requirements

Before traveling internationally, verify your destination’s passport validity requirements. Many countries require at least six months of validity beyond your planned departure, but requirements vary by destination and citizenship. U.S. passport holders should consult the U.S. Department of State for current application, renewal, and processing information.

USF has a passport processing office for new applications at the Shimberg Health Sciences Library. Visit the U.S. Department of State for more information about passports and for passport renewals.

Visa Requirements

Travelers are responsible for obtaining required visas before departure. Requirements depend on citizenship, destination, purpose, and length of stay. U.S. citizens may consult State Department Country Information; other travelers should consult the destination country’s embassy or consulate. The ISOS Assistance App provides supplementary destination information.

International Students and Travel Documents

International students should review U.S. travel and reentry requirements with the Office of International Services and complete applicable iStart requests. Keep secure digital copies of passports and visas and separate paper copies.
