Why did you come to USF for your MA?

I attended USF for my Bachelors, where a professor in the English department gently suggested that I should consider pursuing graduate studies. I wasn’t sure where that would lead me, or if I could afford to take that time, but combined with my passion for research, the idea grew in my mind. After learning more about the program, and the assistantship/professional development opportunity afforded through TAing, I found the MA program to be a good fit for me.

What was a unique opportunity that you had while in your program?

The most unique opportunities arrived through my coursework. I especially enjoyed participating in Dr. Hallock’s Early Florida Literature OA project, which expanded my interests in environmental rhetoric and American studies to include regional nature writing and history.

What did you like best about your time in your program?

Surprisingly, my favorite part of the program was teaching first year composition students, which sparked a passion for student support in higher education.

What are you currently doing and how did your experience in the English department prepare you?

I am currently job hunting in the hopes of securing a position in some area of student support at USF. My plan is to stay at the university forever.
