Melissa Hood is an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Information at the University of South Florida, teaching in the undergraduate Health Informatics program. In addition to teaching, Melissa works in drug trial research maintaining investigator site files. She received her MLIS from the University of South Florida's School of Information in May 2024 and holds a Consumer Health Information Specialization Level 2 from the Medical Library Association. Melissa has over 20 years’ experience in regulatory and standards management, including research, medical devices, privacy, security, and quality requirements. She started work in the healthcare IT industry as a technical writer for remote hosting operations of medical systems, transitioning to standards management across medical software solutions including electronic health records (EHR) and population health software solutions.
